Two days of vendors and family-oriented entertainment and activities, brought to you by the Chrysalis of Fort Smith Spa. Starts Saturday, Aug. 14, at 9 AM and goes to 7 PM. On Sunday, Aug. 15, come back for the last five hours from 11 AM to 4 PM. Free admission. More information can be found here.

3. Back to School Community Celebration

Arkansas United and the Stephens Boys and Girls Club (3101 N 6th St.) will be hosting this celebration of the upcoming first day of school (Monday, Aug. 16). The celebration itself will take place on Friday, Aug. 13, at 4 PM. It will include a free backpack for your child, a food basket, the first dose of vaccine shots (required), and signups for family programs and resources. 4. Bargains Galore on 64

Bargains Galore on 64 is a bucket-list destination for thousands of shoppers. There is something for everyone, and 160 miles of yard sales, to be exact, extending from Fort Smith to Beebe. This annual event is held on Thursday through Saturday, the second weekend in August. This year, that means Aug. 12-14. Come out and join in the fun of selling or buying.

Coronavirus is causing a number of event cancellations, unfortunately, but you can keep up with the status of this still-on event by visiting this page

5. Fort Smith International Film Festival

This Friday and Saturday (Aug. 13 and 14), the first-ever Fort Smith International Film Festival hits the downtown area in what we're hoping is a thriving film legacy to come! If you have any children with an interest in film, you might want to bring them along. If not, then get a babysitter and hang out with your significant other for two evenings of fun and film. Admission is $10, and you get access to 130 films as a result. The full schedule of events is linked here
