1. Central Mall Vaccine Clinic
Has Omicron got you concerned? Do you want to start the new year off vaccinated or get that second one (or booster)? Central Mall has you covered. There will be a vaccine clinic there in conjunction with the Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care (AFMC) starting at 1 PM and lasting until 6 PM. 2. UAFS Women's Basketball vs. West Texas A&M University
Come to the Stubblefield Center on Friday, Dec. 31, at 2 PM. Bring along your future round-ballers as well and cheer the Lady Lions on to victory. Admission is free to the double-header thanks to the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and the university. More information can be found at this link.
3. RAM Saturdays
The Fort Smith Regional Art Museum (RAM) invites you to the first RAM Saturday of the New Year. These events are free to all and go from 12-4 PM throughout the year. This is a fun hands-on exploration of a new medium or type of art! Participants will experiment with techniques and materials in the RAM studio and have the opportunity to make their own original works of art. A full rundown of what to expect is at RAM's website.
4. Ice Skating!
Take the little ones for some Synthetic Ice Skating courtesy First National Bank of Fort Smith and in support of the Community Rescue Mission. This has actually been going on all season long, though times have varied. This week's schedule can be found at this link. Kids 11 and up are $10. Younger are $5.
5. New Year's Eve Celebrations
This one's for you, Mom and Dad! Fort Smith has several wonderful events planned if you can find a babysitter to watch the little ones. From the Downtown New Year's Eve Balldrop to celebrating the Brew Year at Fort Smith Brewing Company in the Chaffee Crossing Historic District with a stunning "balloon drop" of more than 1,000 balloons. There is something for virtually every corner of Fort Smith.
