1. Labor Day Weekend Friend Frenzy

On Saturday, Sept. 3, at 11 AM, come out to Parrot Island Waterpark and be prepared to spend the next 7 hours wading the lazy river, wave pool, or hitting up one of the more high-octane water attractions. Season pass holders, you can bring a friend for free, and there will even be prize drawings. Click here for more details.

2. Cones for Kids Benefitting Arkansas Children's Hospital

This event will be a great excuse to dig into some ice cream after a sweltering hot summer. Andy's Frozen Custard will be hosting the event in support of the Arkansas Children's Hospital from 11 AM-11 PM on Friday, Sept. 2. Click here for details.

3. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Got any drama-lovers in your household, grades 3-6? The Community School of the Arts is opening up its Children's Theatre Company for the December performance of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Practice makes perfect, which means classes will start on Thursday, Sept. 1, from 4-6 PM. This group will be limited to 30, so make time to be there if your youngsters want to play a part. 4. Adopt a Reading Buddy

To celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month, the Miller Branch will have reading “shell” buddies that children can adopt.  The only criterion required is that the child agrees to read to their reading buddy for 20 minutes every day! To adopt a reading "shell" buddy, simply stop by the Miller Branch any time during the month of September, starting on Sept. 1. And while you're there, or at the Main Branch, pick up a Tiny Art Kit. 5. Fort Smith Museum of History Ice Cream Social

On Sunday, Sept. 4, from 1-3 PM, the Fort Smith Museum of History will be hosting the 2022 edition of its annual Ice Cream Social. For $2 for kids under 6 and $5 for everyone else, you can enjoy some treats from the old-fashioned soda shop and get museum admission included. Click here for more details.
